Setpoint Tools is made and maintained by one person. This form is the channel, and it is read. A correction to a published figure gets looked at the same day where I can manage it. Everything else gets read, and answered when there is something useful to say.

Especially worth writing about

• A figure that looks wrong. If a number here disagrees with the current published source, that is a bug and it goes ahead of everything else. Include the tool, the inputs you used, and the source you are comparing against. A wrong reference figure is the worst defect this site can have.
• A source that has moved on. Code sets, penalty tables and wiring regulations all get revised. If a tool here is working from a superseded edition, say which one it should be on.
• A tool that should exist. Particularly anything you currently solve by squinting at a PDF on a phone, retyping numbers into a spreadsheet, or paying a subscription for one lookup a month.
• Something that does not work. Browser and device help, if you can, and what you had typed when it went wrong.

What will not get a useful reply

Advice on your specific job. Whether to submit a particular claim, how to run a particular firing, what to do about a particular circuit, whether a deadline in a live case is really the date this tool computed, or whether an aircraft is safe to fly today. These tools produce reference figures. Deciding what to do with one on your own equipment, your own case or your own claim needs someone who can see it, and who carries the responsibility for the answer.

What happens to your message

The form posts to Web3Forms, a third party form service, which relays the message to a private inbox. Your email address is optional and is used only to reply to you. Nothing you send is added to a mailing list or passed to anyone else. Full detail is on the privacy page.
